Van Ness and Geary Campus Hospital & MOB, San Francisco

The Van Ness and Geary Campus will deliver two state-of-the-art facilities. Construction concepts and sustainable designs are adding 274 patient beds in a modern acute care hospital. The hospital, a twelve-story home for the women’s, children’s, cardiology, oncology, emergency care and transplant departments. The 9-story medical office building will accommodate outpatient services and support the health care professionals next door. The hospital and medical office, respectively LEED and LEED-Silver certified, will connect by a subterranean pedestrian tunnel.

Queen of the Valley Medical Center, Napa

World famous location inspired natural world design including natural lighting, therapeutic views of gardens and Napa Valley foothills to reduce stress and promote healing. Sustainable design principals of indoor air quality, resource conservation and connection to the natural world guided the design process. The design team utilized Building Information Modeling (BIM) throughout the design, approval and construction phases.

Kaiser Emergency Department & Outpatient Clinic, South Sacramento

BKF provided master planning for a major expansion and renovation of this Kaiser Medical Center. The plan includes a new parking structure, outpatient surgery center, chiller building, hospital tower, and emergency department expansion.

VA Palo Alto Campus Building Information Modeling (BIM), Palo Alto, CA

BKF prepared three-dimensional site models of buildings and site improvements at the 93-acre VA Palo Alto campus, for use in visualizing current and planned improvements throughout a 12-year period of new construction, renovation, and expansion of campus facilities.

Highland Hospital Acute Tower Replacement and MOB, Oakland

Hailed as the largest construction project ever undertaken by Alameda County, the Highland Hospital Acute Tower Replacement Project replaces the main hospital within the existing campus. The design-build project features a multiple phased approach to construction.

Kaiser Redwood City

Constructing a new hospital within a dense urban campus required relocating extensive utilities to create a developable site for the new Kaiser Hospital.

Sutter Ambulatory Surgery Center, Elk Grove

BKF provided master planning and construction documentation services for the expansion of the Sutter Medical Center campus in Elk Grove. Once all phases of construction are completed, the Sutter Elk Grove campus will be 43 acres.

The Palo Alto Medical Foundation is a highly sustainable medical campus including a 110-bed inpatient hospital on an 18-acre site in San Carlos.

Kaiser Emergency Department,
San Rafael

The Kaiser Permanente San Rafael Emergency Department Replacement project consisted of the addition of a 17,550 sq. ft. emergency department containing 18 private treatment rooms and a centrally-located nurses’ station.

Kaiser Oakland Medical Center

While required by the state-mandated earthquake safety retrofit mandate, Kaiser Oakland used the opportunity to create an expanded and integrated campus with the new 12-story, 349 bed hospital tower as the iconic centerpiece.

San Francisco

Civil engineering site design for St. Luke’s Hospital in San Francisco included street improvements, relocation of a water main, and design of a stormwater retention system.

  • Design of new street improvements on Cesar Chavez & San Jose Ave.
  • Design of relocation of a 950 l.f. of 24-inch water main

Design of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation Ambulatory Surgery Center and parking structure in Fremont is focused on sustainability.

Santa Clara Valley Medical Center, San Jose

BKF provided civil engineering design and surveying for all on-site work and for the off-site utility extensions for the new administrative office building.

Kaiser Capital Gateway Medical Office Building (501 J Street), Sacramento

Conversion of an existing 6-story office building located at 501 J Street to a full service, satellite MOB containing specialty and potentially Primary Care providers and supporting Ancillary Services such as in-suite procedure room, imaging, lab or pharmacy.
